Another fault in Dynamic Lanes

Whangaparaoa Road’s Dynamic Lane has not been working for the last two days and will also not be in operation during Monday’s peak hour traffic.

Auckland Transport advises that there is a physical fault with the cable in the road surface, which means that one side, where the lanes begin merging, will not function.

It is scheduled to be repaired on Monday night.

A cable also failed four months ago (HM July 1) causing the lanes to be closed for almost two weeks. Repairs involved replacing that cable at a cost of around $20,000-$30,000.

The June fault was blamed on heavy use of the carriageway causing the pavement to move, damaging the cable. Water got in and short-circuited the system.

It is unclear at this stage whether the same cable has failed again.
