Zero Covid cases detected locally

Coast to Coast health conducted around 80 Covid-19 tests in Warkworth and Wellsford yesterday and, so far, no test has returned a positive result.

Coast to Coast Health director Dr Tim Malloy hopes that the community outbreak in New Zealand is restricted to a single cluster and, if that is the case, we should not be seeing cases in the Mahurangi area.

Dr Malloy said people who were exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms should be sure to call the clinics first.

“We don’t want people who are potentially Covid positive walking into our clinics. So, if you have got any symptoms at all, call first and we will talk about what course of action you need to take and, if necessary, will arrange a swab,” he said.

Anyone who thinks they might need a Covid-19 test can contact their GP to be assessed over the phone and then, if necessary, a test can be arranged. Warkworth Medical Centre is swabbing people in their cars at both the Snells Beach and Warkworth surgieries, and the Kowhai Surgery in Warkworth is also testing, but mainly for registered patients as their capcity is limited by the number of testing kits they have.

Coast to Coast is conducting testing at the Wellsford Medical Centre and at the Warkworth Health Hub in Morrison Drive, Warkworth.

Patients who have symptoms and think they should get tested should call Wellsford (09 423 8086) or Warkworth (09 425 8585).
