Warriors share skills at Stanmore Bay School

Stanmore Bay School’s proud reputation on the league field got a boost last week from two Warriors and a Kiwi Fern.

The Vodafone Warriors’ Manu Vatavei and James Bell along with Kiwi Fern and NRL Community Ambassador Georgia Hale, visited the school on May 10 to run through some drills.

School administrator Donna Joyce, who initiated the visit, says that the school has many past and present pupils in the Hibiscus Coast Raiders and a reputation for being in the top tier of primary school league.

“There is a league tournament in week four and we thought who better to help us prepare than Manu Vatavei, Georgia Hale and James Bell?” Donna says.

The young players gave Manu, James and Georgia an enthusiastic welcome and spent an hour taking part in a ‘skills and drills session’, including tackling, defensive play and wrestling, as well as a short game.

There was also time for photos with the players and autographs at the end with Manu Vatavei getting plenty of videos to put online via Boomerang.

“We had an awesome time with the kids,” James said. “They have some great skills.”
