Briscoes plans revealed

Briscoes Group has applied for resource consent for its Silverdale store, which will be in Millwater Parkway.

The application is for a 2500sqm Briscoes Homeware shop, a 1136sqm Rebel Sport and two small retail tenancies. The buildings are all within the 18m height limit allowable in the zone. At the corner of Millwater Parkway and Milner Ave, the apex of the Briscoes block sits at 15m above ground level, which correlates to a three-storey building opposite on Milner Ave.

A total of 160 car parks will be provided – 81 of them in a basement. There will be four vehicle entry and access points, from Central Boulevard, Milner Avenue and Millwater Parkway.

The site itself has no trees on it, but the application states that five street trees – an Australian Kauri, two Pohutukawa trees and two palms – will need to be removed or relocated to provide turning lanes into the site.

The consent application was lodged on May 17 and is currently being processed. The company hopes to begin construction next year.

Briscoe Group is the parent company of Briscoes Homewares, Rebel Sport and Living and Giving.
