Auckland’s first regionwide homeless count took place on September 17.

It also included people in temporary accommodation.

The count was organised by providers in the Housing First Auckland collective with support and funding from Auckland Council. Around 660 volunteers took part.

Organisers say they are pleased with how the count went.

The findings are being analysed and will be made public on World Homeless Day, October 10.

The information will be used by Council and Government to inform its policy and planning. Info: www.aucklandshomelesscount.org.nz
