Teen takes big steps forward

Gulf Harbour teenager Maddison Bradley was awarded the top prize of Overall Merit Award (Most Improved) at a Blue Light Life Leadership course held in Taupo last month.

The 15-year-old beat a strong group of young people from throughout the North Island to take the prize on the week-long residential course.

Blue Light Life Skills coordinator Hannah Ward commented that Maddison had showed “significant and consistent improvement in attitude, self-discipline, self-confidence, team work and was always respectful to staff and fellow course members ”.

The programme is run by NZ Blue Light in partnership with the NZ Police and NZ Defence Force.

It provides 14–17-year-olds with life and leadership skills and training. Info: www.bluelight.co.nz or phone 09 475 9301.
