Hot Shot juniors launched

Warkworth Primary School students have been the first to trial the new tennis Hot Shots programme.

A class from the Warkworth Primary School had a taste of the new Hot Shots tennis programme at the Warkworth Tennis & Squash Club recently.

The club will be holding an eight-week course, starting this month, for 5-7 year olds, costing $40 per child.

Club captain Keiko Pogoni says the idea is to have kids racquets, kids sized nets and softer balls so they can enjoy playing a game without struggling to play on a full size court.

“Going by the enthusiasm of the students from Warkworth Primary, the money raised by the club to buy the equipment will be well worth it,” she says.

Hot Shots will run alongside the normal junior coaching run by Kaye Jackson, on either Monday or Wednesday afternoon, from 3.15pm.

The junior tennis season starts in the week beginning Monday September 7 and will continue through until school finishes in December. Primary students 3.15-4.15pm; college students 4.15-5.15pm.
