Matakana Tennis Club ramped up towards its summer season with the presentation of its first honorary life membership to long-time local tennis player Des Sharp.
The event was held at Leigh Sawmill Brewery on November 30. Sharp has an extensive history of playing at Matakana and Warkworth, and fondly recalled the club’s winning streak in the Rodney Cup from 1951 to 1955.
