The Year 7 and 8 Whangaparaoa College waterpolo team has a new trophy for the school’s cabinet, after winning C grade at NZ Waterpolo’s Winter festival in Auckland.
Last year, the team placed 10th in the same grade.
The team is coached by student Samantha Bright, whose mother, Barbara Kendall, manages the team.
Keeping it in the family, the tournament’s most valuable player award for the grade went to Samantha’s sister, Aimee.
Barbara says the team improved every single match, winning the final against Sacred Heart by a decisive 10-3.
