The new section of Whangaparāoa Road being built as part of the O Mahurangi Penlink project is expected to open to traffic in mid-October.
The O Mahurangi Alliance is holding a community information session at the Hibiscus Coast RSA, 43A Vipond Road, Whangaparāoa, on September 24, from 4pm to 7pm. Residents can drop in to meet the project team, ask questions and hear the latest construction updates.
At the Whangaparāoa end, crews are completing road layers, drainage, footpaths, cycleways and underground services ahead of final surfacing. Some night work will be required for asphalting and the removal of temporary roadside safety barriers.
Work is also continuing on the State Highway 1 interchange, including asphalt paving, kerbs, guardrails, earthworks and service installation.
Near Stillwater, crews are continuing earthworks, ground stabilisation and construction of road base layers.
Progress is also being made on the Wēiti River Bridge, where further bridge deck concrete pours and piling work are planned this month.
