Three roads near Kaiwaka could be restricted to residents during the Northern Bass music festival over New Year, with objections to the proposal closing on November 18.
Fuzen Entertainment has applied to Kaipara District Council for restrictions from 6am on December 30 until midday on January 1.
Settlement Road would be closed to through traffic, with access restricted to residents. Residents-only restrictions would also apply to Valley Road between Settlement and Pritchard roads, and Lawrence Road between Valley and Cames roads.
The proposed closures are due to be considered at the council’s November 25 meeting.
Written objections must be lodged before 4pm on Wednesday, November 18, by emailing council@kaipara.govt.nz or delivering them to the council’s offices at 32 Hokianga Road, Dargaville, or Unit 6, The Hub, 6 Molesworth Drive, Mangawhai.
Any objections received will be considered at the council meeting.
A fixture on Mangawhai’s summer calendar since launching in 2011, Northern Bass marks its 15th anniversary this year after selling out its reduced-capacity, 6,000-person event last summer.
Acts announced so far include Andy C and Tonn Piper, Jme, Culture Shock, DJ Zinc and S.P.Y, alongside New Zealand performers Lee Mvtthews, The Upbeats, Quix, Pirapus and Tali.
