Hopetoun Brown will bring their particular style of jazz and blues to Leigh this month.
Hopetoun Brown is promising a journey through blues, soul, stomp, jazz and honk-driven funk when they appear on stage at Leigh Sawmill on Sunday November 22.
Tim Stewart and Nick Atkinson, who are Hopetoun Brown, are Sawmill regulars, but this month they will be joined by local brass players Finn Scholes and Kingsley Melhuish.
Kingsley and Finn both play tuba, as well as trumpets, conch shells and tambourines. Nick’s bass clarinet and tenor sax will leaven the fiery brass tones as the ensemble visits the sounds of New Orleans, Chicago and K-Road.
Tim and Nick met at primary school when their teacher put them together to make a spaceship and they’ve been collaborating ever since. By the time they were 13, they were in a fledgling blues band founded by Karl Steven, which would eventually become Supergroove.
The show starts at 4pm.
