Lovers of real pine Christmas trees should be dusting off their decorations, as this year’s crop is due to go on sale from December 1.
Warkworth Volunteer Fire Brigade will again be selling trees in a range of sizes until December 16, or until the trees are sold out. They will be stocked and displayed behind the fire station on Church Hill from 9am to 6pm daily. Prices range from around $40 upwards and anyone wanting large trees should book in advance, as numbers are limited.
The brigade will also be wrapping trees for $5 to make transport easier and, new for this year, they will also have Rotary Christmas puddings for sale at $25 each.
Funds raised will go towards buying a portable inflatable dam to carry water on the crew’s new ute to remote rural locations and scrub fires.
St John Mangawhai will also be selling trees from a container at the ambulance station on Molesworth Drive, from 3pm to 6pm on weekdays and 9am to 1pm at weekends. Large trees will only be available in the first week of December and need to be pre-ordered and paid for in advance. They will cost $110, while standard trees are $50.
There will also be limited numbers of Christmas tree stands and festoon lights for sale.
Meanwhile, Hammer Hardware in Wellsford will again be selling trees on behalf of St John during shop opening hours, with the first delivery due at the start of December – full details were not available as we went to press, but check Hammer Hardware on Facebook for more information.
