Police – The importance of teamwork

I don’t think anyone would argue with me if I said that police work can be challenging. Meeting that challenge is achievable but it requires teamwork. Now, when I’m talking about teamwork, I don’t just mean the men and women on my police team here at the station. I’m also talking about the teamwork going on between our community and their police.

Over the past few weeks, Warkworth Police have been working hard to crack down on dishonesty offending in our area. Thanks to vigilant members of our community, we recently received information that allowed us to obtain a search warrant for a Warkworth address, revealing a treasure trove of stolen property linked to several local burglaries. Among items recovered by the police were a digger, two trailers and construction equipment.

The most important thing from our perspective was that we were able to return these items to their rightful owners. That’s not only a great result for those affected, it’s also a big win for everyone who thinks that the people who commit crime should be held to account. A man was arrested following the recovery of all that property, but more significantly, since that arrest was made, there has been a noticeable drop in our recorded dishonesty offending, with not a single burglary reported in our area last week.

Warkworth Police are committed to keeping our town safe. We’d like to thank everyone who takes the time to report suspicious activity or share helpful information. If it doesn’t look right, or you have an inkling that it’s something your local police should know, pick up the phone and share what you know. If you’d prefer to be anonymous, that’s also fine. The important thing is that you tell us what you’ve seen.
Police work is not something that we do ‘to’ this community – it’s something we do ‘with’ them. Working together, we can all help to keep crime down. I’m certain that Warkworth can be this country’s safest town. It’ll just take a little teamwork to make it that way!
