The highlight of a very busy weekend on June 14 for the Hibiscus Coast Raiders Rugby League Club was its Premiers win in the Sharman Cup over the previously unbeaten Otara Scorpions 26-6 in front of a large crowd at Stanmore Bay. The Raiders remain undefeated and lead the competition on points difference from the Northcote Tigers. Their last fixture was against the Pakuranga Jaguars at Ti Rakau Park on Saturday June 28.

For the Premiers, skipper Sam Waterworth as usual lead from the front while Harry Orton was the Reserves player of the day. Matthew Rodger and Corey (Grizzly) Levien also had very good games.

In other June 14 weekend matches, the Raiders Reserves lost both their halves in tough wet conditions in the opening minutes to injury and succumbed to Otara 10-22. They played against the Pakuranga Jags Reserves at Ti Rakau Park on Saturday June 28.

These great games were preceded by seven of the club’s junior sides from under 6 to under 12s. Sunday saw the Raiders’ Masters travel to Waitemata to take on Glenora in the rain. Glenora handled the conditions slightly better and ran out 2-0 victors.
