Music lovers are in for a soul-stirring treat next month as two celebrated acts from Raglan, Penni Feather and WilkieMac, bring their unique blend of folk, blues and Celtic-inspired sounds to Mangawhai.
In a special double-bill concert titled ‘One Show, Two Acts!’, Penni Feather and WilkieMac will each perform their own sets before joining forces on stage for a collaborative finale rich in musical chemistry.
WilkieMac, known for their heartfelt originals, clever covers and lively Celtic spirit, have enjoyed a dynamic year, from headlining Te Rangi Festival in Hawke’s Bay to opening for Australia’s Ukulele Death Squad on their WOMAD pre-tour. Armed with a collection of instruments and voices, the duo takes audiences on a journey infused with humour and heritage.
Penni Feather, with her smoky, soulful vocals and irreverent presence, delivers performances that are rooted in folk and blues with a hint of alt-country flair. She says the idea for this collaborative tour was sparked earlier this year when both acts joined forces for a concert at the Hamilton Arts Festival.
“The musical alchemy they discovered, intertwining their songs and styles, was simply too good not to share again,” she says. “Audiences can expect an evening of stories, strings, and spirited songs.”
