Facelift for loos and library

The public toilets and council buildings in Baxter Street have had a much-needed facelift recently, with renovation, repainting and roof repairs all carried out.

A Rodney Local Board workshop heard on August 6 that long-standing issues, many of them involving various leaks, had now been resolved.

The toilet blocks have been repainted and tiled, the floor resurfaced, new LED lighting installed, and leaky windows and plumbing replaced.

Next door, in the library and former council offices, a significant section of the roof and guttering have been replaced to stop water flooding into the building every time it rained.

A second round of roofing work is being planned for this summer, including resurfacing and repainting, before internal layout improvements are carried out as part of a $500,000 project (MM, Feb 17).
