Women invited to take the helm

Women keen to experience the joy of sailing are invited to take part in Gulf Harbour Yacht Club’s annual Women on Water Weekend (WOWW), which returns from Friday, March 13 to Sunday, March 15, 2026.

Now in its fourth year, WOWW is designed to build confidence, connection and fun on the water. The weekend introduces women to keelboat sailing in a supportive, friendly setting – no experience or boat needed. Participants are teamed up with experienced club sailors who “show them the ropes” and help them feel at home from the moment they step aboard.

There are three divisions to choose from – the Harbour Course for beginners, the Non-Spinnaker division for relaxed competition, and the Spinnaker division for those who enjoy racing. Friday is spent meeting the crew and getting to know the boats, followed by two full days of sailing across the Hauraki Gulf.
