Riparian and wetland fencing funding

Northland landowners have a short window to access funding for riparian and wetland fencing projects outside the Kaipara Harbour Catchment. The Northland Regional Council is offering support for stock-exclusion fencing that provides at least a three-metre buffer from waterways, and can also assist with setting up reticulated stock-water systems. Grants include up to $600 per trough and up to $3000 for a 25,000-litre tank. Projects must go beyond existing stock-exclusion rules – with a minimum buffer of three metres in lowland areas and one metre in hill country – and will be ranked on environmental benefit. Funding is limited and cannot be applied to work already completed.
