Estuary Arts Centre annual pre-Christmas Makers Market will be held on Saturday, November 29 from 10am to 3pm at the Estuary Arts Centre, 214 Hibiscus Coast Highway.
The free community event will feature around 50 art and craft stalls selling locally made items such as Christmas decorations, ceramics, hand-thrown mugs, jewellery, honey, paintings and wooden chopping boards, perfect for pre-Christmas shopping.
Visitors can also enjoy food stalls, live music, face painting, have-a-go art sessions and pottery-throwing demonstrations. There will be a festive photo backdrop for selfies and a “cash and carry” art sale with works priced under $500.
The market will be followed by the Ōrewa New World Santa Parade, which starts at 4.30pm, so make a day of it with family and friends.
Parade route and closures
The Santa parade begins in Alice Ave, turns left into Florence Ave, then right onto Hibiscus Coast Highway, finishing at the Ōrewa Surf Club.
For safety reasons, there will be no parking along the parade route from Edward and Alice Avenues through Florence Ave and along the Hibiscus Coast Highway to Weiti Road. Cars parked there after 3pm will be towed at the owner’s expense. A red courtesy line will mark the area where spectators can stand safely.
Road closures will be in place for:
- Alice and Edward Avenues, 8am to 5pm
- Florence Ave, 4pm to 6pm
- Hibiscus Coast Highway (West Hoe Rd to Centreway Rd), 4pm to 6pm
Parking will be limited. Organisers encourage visitors to walk or carpool where possible and avoid supermarket carparks. Western Reserve will be open for parking from 3pm, weather permitting. The best viewing spots are along Hibiscus Coast Highway and at the Ōrewa Surf Club carpark.
