Homebuilders – A refreshing pause

Despite the wonders of Christmas and the festive season, it can be a busy, stressful time for many. There is often much expectation and with it comes the pressure of creating fun and special times for all.

Among all the bustle, it is good to slow ourselves down, pause, enjoy the time, and practice some mindfulness. Clear your mind by focusing on one thing for a short time, and noticing how you are feeling. Slow your breathing and just observe. Christmas decorations, particularly lights can be fabulous subjects to focus on – the sparkle, glitter and the shadows cast are mesmerising. You will find the ability to pause in this way refreshing, recharging you for the things ahead, whatever they may be.

For those wondering what to do, particularly those with children and long holidays ahead, the region offers many events for families and individuals. It could be a good time to try something new, go somewhere different or experience different traditions. The regions’ churches offer a variety of services should you wish to escape the consumer focus. Auckland Council offers events throughout the region and there are many local markets and activities that might have interest, some of which are free-of-charge. Information about what’s happening is advertised on websites or the local libraries are great sources of information often hosting events themselves and, of course, the Mahurangi Matters.

Christmas is a unique time and opportunity to rekindle old memories and traditions, as well as create some new ones. We are also very fortunate to live in such a beautiful place, surrounded by rivers, beaches and forests to explore. We also encourage you to make space for quiet, peaceful time just to be, observe and relax.

Homebuilders will be honouring our Christmas tradition of offering our donated gift selection for collection from Wednesday, December 17, here at the office, 5 Hexham Street, Warkworth, from 9am til noon. Thank you to everyone who has donated gifts. Depending on further generosity, we hope to have a selection of items suitable for children up to 18 years.
