Unsung heroes who go the extra mile

It takes more than journos, ad reps, designers, printers and admin staff to get every edition of Mahurangi Matters in front of our valued readers … there’s also a small army of walkers who deliver the paper to thousands of letterboxes and pick-up points.

Young or old, they are a vital part of the process of getting all the local news out to the community every fortnight, and we’d like to acknowledge all their hard yards of pavement pounding this Christmas.

Whether they’re doing it to save some pocket money or get out of the house for exercise, we thank them all for their amazing efforts.

Of course, sometimes there can be problems – finding obscure addresses or dealing with the problem of whether the paper is wanted at all. For the record, papers can be delivered to boxes with a No Junk Mail sign, but not to those marked Posted/Addressed Mail Only or No Newspapers. Mahurangi Matters has letterbox stickers available for readers who want to make it clear they want the paper.

Readers who experience problems with their deliveries are encouraged to contact admin@localmatters.co.nz. Alternatively, anyone who’d like to join the team and become a walker themselves should contact Elle Jeffries on elishamajeffries@gmail.com
