Actors wanted for Shakespeare play

The adaptation will feature a fusion of beautiful language, high-energy movement and dance, set to live music.

Auditions for Shakespeare’s comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be held at the Mangawhai Library Hall in Moir Street on Saturday February 28 and Sunday March 8.

Casting is open to both adults and children, with roles divided into two categories – chorus dancers/movers (aged 10 and over) and speaking roles (aged 14 and over). No previous experience is required.

Auditions for each category will be held separately on both days. Dance and creative movement chorus roles – including court dancers, hobgoblins, fairies and forest sprites – will run from 1pm to 1.45pm for ages 10 to 12, and from 2pm to 2.45pm for ages 13 and over. Auditions for speaking roles will be held from 3pm to 5pm.

Those wishing to audition must register in advance. For speaking roles, contact susandugdale@gmail.com. For dance and movement roles, contact jennylsharp@outlook.com.

Rehearsals will be held weekly on Sunday afternoons, starting on March 22. The production will stage four performances between June 24 and 28.
