After two years away from the spotlight, Hamilton-born country artist Sam Bartells is making a highly anticipated return to live performances, including a gig at the Leigh Sawmill Café on Saturday May 16.
Discovered and signed in Nashville, Bartell has developed a style that blends alternative rock and country. The result is a sound that is raw, emotive and deeply resonant with audiences.
His recent absence has done little to dim his appeal with two sellout performances ahead of his Leigh show.
From intimate bar gigs to commanding a crowd of 50,000 at the Bledisloe Cup at Eden park, his journey has been one of steady, hard-earned success. He is an outspoken advocate for addiction recovery, often using his music to share his personal history of struggle and renewal. His music reflects these stories of heartbreak and redemption, struggle and hope. With multiple tracks reaching the New Zealand Top 40 and appearances in The Rock 2000, Bartells’ reputation as a compelling storyteller continues to grow.
He will have a full band performance at the Leigh Sawmill Café and joining him on the night is multi-instrumentalist and longtime friend Matt Jones, who will open the show.
Doors open at 7.30pm, show starts at 8pm.
