Auckland restores Māori names to five regional parks

Long Bay, Shakespear and Wenderholm regional parks are among five Auckland regional parks to receive restored or newly adopted te reo Māori names, recognising their ancestral histories and strengthening the cultural identity of Tāmaki Makaurau. A new Māori name has been provided for Ambury Regional Park highlighting an important cultural narrative, and the full name for Ōmana Regional Park will be restored to acknowledge its ancestral origins.
