The Rodney Local Board has approved $20,000 in local operational funding to support the next stage of the One Mahurangi Business Improvement District (BID) community engagement project.
The funding will help One Mahurangi progress plans to improve its long-term financial sustainability by proposing changes to the way its BID targeted rate is calculated. The initiative is part of a two-year project that will culminate in a formal BID ballot, expected to run over four weeks later this year or early next year.
The first year of the project focused on developing a voter database, preparing an engagement and communications plan, and gathering initial feedback from BID members. Year two will concentrate on informing businesses about the proposed rating mechanism changes and ensuring voters have the information needed to make an informed decision during the ballot process.
The project is also expected to provide information about the evolving local business environment, helping to inform future planning by both the business association and the board.
