Green light for Red Beach bike pump track

The pump track design for Red Beach park.

Red Beach Park on Brandon Road will welcome a new permanent bike pump track, with the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board confirming $540,000 in funding for the project.

This follows the success of the pop up pump track that made its way around the Hibiscus Coast in previous years (Hibiscus Matters, November 2024). This time, the facility will be a permanent addition to the park.

The new track will include areas for all ages and abilities, including a beginner loop, medium track with an advanced line, a low level scooter area and a social space with bike racks and seating.

Board chair Alexis Poppelbaum has overseen the development of the pump track plans and says that she’s excited to see the track come to life.

“I’m absolutely thrilled that we’re now delivering permanent pump tracks, starting with Red Beach,” she said.

Site setup began in March, and construction is expected to run through until late next month.

Poppelbaum also says that they are planning for a second pump track to be installed in Browns Bay next year.
