Darag Rennie – Coast People
Long-time local resident Darag Rennie is standing for the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board in the upcoming election. Rennie has lived in the area for over 40 years, where he raised a family and built a career in medicine and health advocacy. Now semi-retired, he is also the author of two books.
Rennie says his decision to stand is driven by concern over rising rates, council debt, and what he sees as a lack of transparency in local decision-making. His priorities include reducing wasteful spending, protecting local water control, and improving essential services such as roads and infrastructure.
He is campaigning on a platform of what he describes as “common-sense, community-first solutions”, and says he wants to bring greater accountability to the local board.
Rennie can be contacted at darag@daragrennie.com or 027 504 7280.
