Whangaparāoa Road site cleared

The properties sold to Hoppers in 2022.

Houses on residential sites along Whangaparāoa Road are being cleared for health and safety concerns but owner Hopper Developments says plans have yet to be finalised for the site.

The properties, extending from just past D’Oyly Drive and around into Brightside Road, were sold to the company by Auckland Council in 2022 as part of a programme to increase revenue to lessen the impact of the Covid-19 measures on council’s finances. (Hibiscus Matters, June 4, 2020)

Hoppers sales and marketing manager, Shana Hopper-McCully says they decided to clear the derelict properties after a number of break-ins, but the site is still in the early development stages, particularly with the constraint on resource consents announced by Watercare late last year.
