Autec Auto Electrical

The ever-increasing complexity of modern cars is one reason Warkworth auto electrician Ronnie Claassen advises customers to “have a chat” before they start tinkering.

Ronnie and wife Vanessa have opened Autec Auto Electrical in Glenmore Drive, specialising in all computer-controlled systems, from sensors, batteries and alarms to air conditioning, lights, entertainment systems and engine management.

With nearly 40 years’ experience behind him, first in South Africa and now NZ, Ronnie says taking a DIY approach to fixing issues in a modern vehicle can sometimes result in a significantly more costly repair.

“Today’s electrical systems need specialised diagnostic tools,” he says. “While the issue might seem straightforward, it’s much better to come in for a no obligation chat and get a proper diagnostic scan.”

Vanessa says they are keen to let local mechanics know that they don’t have to send cars out of the district.

She says she and Ronnie feel confident about the future of the business in Warkworth.

“There’s a lot of growth here, plus more people are buying hybrid and electric cars, which benefit from specialised auto electrical work.”

Autec offers free battery testing, and has batteries and some auto electrical parts in stock. It is based in the premises formerly occupied by Warkworth Whitewear.
