Warkworth will soon be home to a boutique tanning and red light therapy studio with ECM Sun Lounge set to open at Riverview Plaza in the coming weeks – just in time for summer.

Owner Kate Sheehan, a long-time local and mother of three, says the studio offers a luxurious take on tanning using the latest in hybrid sunbed technology.

“ECM is more than just a place to tan – it’s a warm, welcoming retreat where cutting-edge tech meets feel-good vibes,” she says.

Once a popular doughnut shop, the revamped space has plush interiors, soft lighting and relaxing music where you can unwind while they take expert care of your skin.

“Our mission is simple: to bring Rodney the safest, most luxurious tanning experience available.”

The studio uses EU-compliant hybrid beds that combine gentle UV exposure with red light therapy – a treatment known to support collagen production, muscle recovery and even mood.

“This means clients tan faster with less UV, reducing the risk of burning while achieving a natural, sun-kissed glow.”

Sessions are tailored to skin type ensuring a personalised and safe approach to tanning.

“Whether you’re prepping for a holiday or just want to look like you’ve already been on one, we’ll help you achieve that effortless, tropical ‘vacay’ bronze.

“I want to make the whole community tanned, healthy and glowing with confidence,” Sheehan says.
