Two familiar faces with deep roots on the Hibiscus Coast are joining forces to launch a new legal practice in the heart of Ōrewa.
Mike Hawkins and Tony Edward, with more than 50 years of combined experience, have partnered to open Hawkins Law, a modern, relationship-focused law firm offering practical legal support with a personal touch.
For Mike, the decision to open a practice in Ōrewa is something of a homecoming. Raised on the Hibiscus Coast, Mike is part of a family committed to serving the local community. His parents, both medical professionals, cared for generations of Coast families, while his grandfather, Raymond Hawkins, founded Hawkins Optometrists in 1975.
“Being able to continue my family’s legacy of professional service in Ōrewa, now through the law, is something I’m incredibly proud of,” Mike says. “This community means a lot to me, it’s where I grew up, and now it’s where I get to help people make some of life’s most important decisions with confidence.”
His business partner, Tony Edward, may live in Devonport, but his connection to the Hibiscus Coast runs just as deep. In 2025, Tony celebrates 40 years of practicing on the Coast, having supported generations of clients through everything from property transactions to personal planning – with care, clarity, and a genuine commitment to their success.
