Millwater home makes it to House of the Year final

Although several properties in Silverdale, Red Beach and Stanmore Bay received awards in the Auckland Regional House of the Year Awards, including several Golds, just one has made it into the grand final.

Award winners from each region are put into a pool and their scores compared with all the gold winners in the country. It is the top 100 homes from this process that become Gold Reserve finalists. Each of these 100 homes is judged again, to determine the winners of national titles.

The property in Millwater that goes forward for re-judging won a gold award in the New Home $400,000–$500,000 category for the Auckland region, for its builders Sicato.

The four-bedroom home wowed the judges with its high ceilings, sense of light and space as well as the choice of furnishings and fittings. Large tiles not only provide a practical surface in the kitchen but apparently double as a dance floor during weekend get-togethers.

The home has Kiwi living in mind, with indoor-outdoor flow made possible by large decks off the lounge and dining areas which allow the home to be opened up to the outdoors on fine days.
