Searle wins seafood award

Point Wells resident and former Leigh Fisheries operations manager Tom Searle won the inaugural Telling Our Story award at Seafood NZ’s annual Seafood Stars awards in Nelson last month.

Judges said Searle had always been a staunch advocate for independent owner-operators and small-scale fishers, and brought integrity and commitment to everything he did, from promotional campaigns to industry governance roles.

Searle was recently appointed head of seafood at Leigh Fish owned by Foodstuffs, though he says he is continuing to work closely with the fishery.
