New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty North Shore director Ben Macky is bringing his team to Ōrewa, expanding the company’s presence to better serve the growing Hibiscus Coast and Rodney property market.

For Ben, the move is as much personal as it is professional. A Coast resident himself, he says the area offers some of the best value in Auckland and expanding north was a natural step for the company.

“I think the Coast has really good down-to-earth people. It’s a community-driven location with lots of young families,” he says.

“It’s a growing location, the beaches are beautiful, all the reserves and parks are amazing. Because I’m originally from the South Island, I have a real connection to all the nature the Coast has to offer.”

From a real estate perspective, Ben believes the Hibiscus Coast represents a great opportunity for buyers and investors.

“It has good value compared to the North Shore and the city. You’re close to the beaches, while Ōrewa town centre has a real buzz going, and there’s significant growth happening with Millwater and Milldale, and the surf park coming through.”

“With so much future growth happening, it’s a strong place for us to be.”

The Ōrewa team will be drawn from New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty’s wider North operation, which currently includes around 40 agents based from north of the bridge to the top of the North Island. Key locations include the North Shore, Rodney, Waiheke Island, Waipu/Mangawhai, Bay of Islands and Northland. Ten experienced agents will be working from the Ōrewa office, many of whom are locals themselves.

“We have access to international buyers and very good connections with high-net-worth individuals around the world,” Ben says.

“With the gold visa going through, it has definitely created interest in this market.”
