Capturing data is one thing, but understanding it is another, and that’s a gap that new business MappLab is setting out to bridge.

Founder Claudio Aguayo uses drone capture and digital processing to create high-resolution maps and 3D models of land and sites, but adds interpretation so the data can be used in context.

He says that whether it’s of terrain, vegetation or built spaces, the outputs that can be viewed, measured and used for planning or documentation.

“It also allows sites to be recorded over time, so changes can be tracked in both 2D and 3D,” Aguayo says.
