Mahurangi at Level 3

As Auckland moved to Alert Level 3 last week, Mahurangi residents enjoyed their first taste of relaxed restrictions, lining up for takeaways. Cafes in Warkworth opened for contactless service, giving many their first flat white in five weeks. There was a half-an-hour wait to order fast food at the Grange as tradies, now permitted to work, came to buy lunch. Queues for the drive through, extended onto SH1. Residents rallied to support local, taking to social media and listing eateries that are doing delivery or contactless pick up. Meanwhile, Tamaki Makaurau reached an important milestone last week, with 80 per cent of the eligible population having received their first vaccination. The Government’s goal is to get 90 per cent of Aucklanders to have had their first dose within two weeks of Alert Level 3.
