Positive case in Warkworth

Auckland’s Level 4 lockdown will be reviewed next Monday.

The Director General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield has confirmed that there is a positive case of Covid-19 in Warkworth.

This follows the news that Warkworth wastewater tests have again returned traces of Covid-19.

Dr Bloomfield says the wastewater results are from samples taken “a day or two ago”.

As a result, a pop up testing station is again at 77 Morrison Drive (Rodney Surgical Centre) in Warkworth today. It will be open until 5pm.

Dr Bloomfield says about six per cent of the Warkworth population has been tested so far.

There are 63 new cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand today. This brings to 210 the number of cases in the current outbreak – 198 in Auckland and 12 in Wellington.

Twelve people are in hospital, none in intensive care.

Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins says that 80,000 people were vaccinated yesterday, the largest daily total on record. There were also a record number of tests yesterday – 50,000. As from today, anyone over 30 years of age can book to get vaccinated.
