Winter Splash goes virtual

Greg Holland leads the way in the virtual Winter Splash.

Lockdown may have put a dampener on the popular Winter Splash – a hospice fundraiser that was to have been held this weekend.

Participants jump into the cold sea of Arkles Bay, dressed in costumes, and donate to hospice. Around 100 took part last year.

However, it is definitely a case of swim, not sink – organiser Greg Holland has made the Winter Splash a virtual event and another fun activity to keep people entertained at home.

On Sunday, August 29, people can find ways to get wet and a bit chilly at home – an ice bucket chucked over your head, a cold shower under the garden hose or a splash in your pool.

“Even better, dress up and do it as a family!” Greg says.

Video your efforts and share them on the Arkles Bay Winter Splash facebook page – and lastly splash out and donate at https://harbourhospice.org.nz/donate/
