
Nina Hassan, 12, was named the first overall winner of the Highfield Photography Story Competition at a special prizegiving held at Mahurangi East Library.
The competition invited children and teenagers to visit Highfield Donkey Reserve during the school holidays and submit up to four photos accompanied by a short story about their visit.
There were winners in three age categories, with both the community and judging panel selecting their favourites.
In the 6–8 age group, Ezekiel Swann won the community vote, while Jackson Neal was Highly Commended by the judging panel. In the 9–12 category, Nina Hassan won the community vote and Georgia Hand was Highly
Commended. In the 13–17 category, Milly Hand won the community vote and Agnes Biju was Highly Commended.
Photo Store in Warkworth printed and framed the winning entries.
The Rodney Local Board provided $50 vouchers for the category winners and a $150 Noel Leeming voucher for the overall winner. Charlie’s Gelato also provided vouchers for all participants.
