Choir classics performed

Matakantata is always keen to welcome new members.

Matakantata Choir will invite audiences to take a walk down memory lane this month when it revisits some of its most popular songs from the past 17 years.

The concerts will be held in the Matakana Village Hall on Friday June 19, at 7.30pm, and at the Warkworth Town Hall on Sunday June 21, at 4pm.

The choir’s repertoire ranges from traditional choral music and spirituals to popular classics and jazz standards.

Choir member Jenni Francis says one of the group’s key strengths is its ability to welcome new people.

“Those who join us, even without any previous experience singing in choirs, quickly become grateful for the warm welcome they receive,” Francis says.

The choir currently has around 40 members.

Special guests at both shows will be the Mahurangi College choir.

Tickets cost $25 and can be purchased at the Gull Service Station in Matakana and Harts Pharmacy in Warkworth, or online at https://events.humanitix.com/matakantatasgreatesthits.
