Comedy on the move

Warkworth will be in for a night of laughs when the town hosts its inaugural Warkworth Comedy Crawl on Friday, October 23.

The event, starting at 6.30pm, has been developed by One Mahurangi in conjunction with Laugh Club NZ and is sponsored by Watercare.

Rather than staging the comedy in one location, the crawl will take audiences to two mystery Warkworth venues during the evening, with several local businesses also offering dinner options.

Adding to the intrigue, the comedians will remain under wraps until the night.

Laugh Club NZ’s Nick Rado has helped develop the concept, which aims to give audiences a night of surprises while encouraging them to explore local hospitality businesses.

Ticket holders will be advised of their first venue by phone or while dining at participating restaurants. The first show will start at 7pm, and will feature an MC and comedy act.

The audience will then have half-an-hour to make its way to the second mystery venue, where another 45-minute show will start at 8.15pm, this time featuring an MC and headline act. The evening is expected to finish around 9pm.

One Mahurangi says the event reflects its philosophy of working with local businesses to promote Warkworth and encourage people to spend time in the town.

Teasers about the mystery comedians will be released on social media in the lead-up to the event.
