Debating for fun and hospice

The fundraising comedy show The Great Debate returns to the Warkworth Town Hall on Saturday, October 10, at 6pm.

Over the past 17 years the event has raised around $100,000 for the local hospice and Harbour Hospice Tui House will again be the beneficiary this year.

The debates are not serious, but are designed to be entertaining.

As usual, the evening will feature two debates, with Lesley Ingham as this year’s host.

The topic of the first debate is, “Youth is wasted on the young” and will see Toastmasters take on Warkworth Lions.

The second debate will be based on the topic, “White lies are a valid form of communication” and will see Muzza’s team take on Warkworth Fire Brigade.

Finger food will be served during the evening, and there will also be a cash bar.

Tickets cost $40 and are available from Barfoot & Thompson, Harts Pharmacy, Hospice at Tui House, Mahurangi Matters, Warkworth Information Centre or online at https://events.humanitix.com/the-great-debate-2026.
