Celebrated chamber ensemble NZTrio He Taonga Wairere will perform its latest programme Dreamscape at the Warkworth Town Hall on Saturday May 9.
Featuring acclaimed musicians Amalia Hall (violin), Matthias Balzat (cello) and guest pianist Jian Liu,
Dreamscape brings together a diverse and technically demanding repertoire.
A NZTrio spokesperson says the programme is designed to counter the distractions of modern digital life with the immediacy and emotional depth of live performance.
The concert opens with Roxanna Panufnik’s Around Three Corners, followed by Robert Schumann’s Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, a Romantic-era work celebrated for its passion and lyrical intensity.
In the second half, audiences can expect a shift toward more experimental soundscapes. New Zealand composer Claire Cowan’s ‘wood : strings : hammers : flesh’ explores the physical relationship between musicians and their instruments through inventive techniques.
The programme concludes with Charles Ives’ Piano Trio, a bold and often humorous composition blending American folk influences with avant-garde elements.
“Every NZTrio performance is an invitation into a shared, human experience,” the trio said in a statement. “With Dreamscape, we wanted to curate a programme that feels like a vivid dream, where the familiar meets the unexpected.”
The performance starts at 4pm. Tickets are $50; $25 for students, plus booking fees; and are available through Eventfinda: https://www.eventfinda.co.nz/whatson/events/warkworth
