With just over 11 weeks till Christmas, the time has come for the community to once more ‘get its tinsel on’ for the seventh annual Mangawhai Activity Zone (MAZ) Santa Parade.
Registrations have opened to enter a float in the festive flotilla on December 14. Floats can be cars, trailers, small trucks or even walking, dancing and cheerleading teams.
Entry is free and offers a fun, high-visibility opportunity for local businesses, clubs and sports teams to showcase themselves to the community.
MAZ chair and parade coordinator, Kate Arbuckle, says the committee is excited to celebrate the season.
“We’re looking forward to a vibrant day and the chance to show heartfelt thanks to all our park sponsors, donors and volunteers,” Arbuckle says. “It’s a time to celebrate the summer holidays and share some Christmas joy.”
Starting from Sellars Reserve on Alamar Crescent at 1pm, the parade will follow the now familiar route, winding its way up through Wood Street shopping centre before heading along Molesworth Drive to MAZ.
Santa has been booked to hand out early Christmas gifts to children under 12. Prizes for the best float will also be announced.
Festivities will continue with refreshment stalls and entertainment leading into the free community Christmas Concert from 3pm to 6pm. Further details of the show will be shared closer to the date.
