The first of two Santa Sleigh journeys took place on a balmy evening in Warkworth on December 15 and was a delight to behold – it was hard to imagine this taking place anywhere else in the country.
Mahurangi Matters waited patiently on Pulham Road for the procession alongside kids and families standing on driveways and grass verges, listening to the sirens in the distance signalling Mr and Mrs Claus were getting closer.
When the motorcade finally made its way past us, the children got a wave from police, the fire brigade and, of course, Santa himself.
The kids then scrambled to pick up lollies thrown from the back of the sleigh by a jovial Chubby Elf.
