The Mangawhai Lions Food & Wine Festival will be held at the Mangawhai Domain on Saturday March 21, with the aim of raising funds to support the community. The main beneficiary this year will be Mangawhai Coastguard.
Last year’s inaugural event raised $20,000, which was donated to the Mangawhai Surf Life Saving Club for its rebuild. The remainder of the money was used to buy a new computer/ticketing system for the museum, a storage shed for coastguard, a picnic table at the library hall, equipment for North Haven Hospice, and to support a community food bank for the Heads.
This month’s event promises to be even bigger, with the addition of a VIP marquee sponsored by PlantHouse, featuring seated tables for 10, a bar, and platters for the tables.
There will also be a lineup of food and alcohol vendors, including barbecue, pizza, burgers, sweet treats, and an extra brewery. The music, on the other hand, will be provided by Dougy G, Dan Rodderick, Abba Heaven and Tasman Az.
The festival is open to anyone aged 18 years and over, and free shuttles will be operating. The festival will run from 2pm to 7pm and tickets are available at mangawhailionsclub.flicket.co.nz.
Organisers thanked major sponsor New World Mangawhai.
