It’s school holiday time again, with Term 2 coming to a close next Friday, June 27, and local libraries are once again preparing a raft of fun activities to keep kids of all ages amused and entertained.
The big news this holiday is that the newly-renovated Mahurangi East Library has at last reopened and is offering a full programme of events in its bright new space. Highlights include craft sessions, a cooking class and two movie and popcorn afternoons.
Young visitors to the library can also pick up an Activity Board and collect badges to stick on it when they complete any of the holiday activities – those who do will be in with a chance to win a movie voucher from Matakana Cinemas.
Meanwhile, at Warkworth and Wellsford Libraries, there are plenty of Matariki-themed activities, such as star and badge-making sessions, plus a rubbish show – Let’s Talk Rubbish features Ruby the Rubbish Fairy and a cheeky seagull talking about the “Land of Fill”.
There is also dancing, dragons and a chance to get up close and personal with some worms – see panel for details, or contact your local library.
