Potters showcase creativity

The Matakana Potters Collective is bringing together 11 local ceramic artists for its annual exhibition, Scoop 26, at Charlie’s Gelato in Matakana.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural show, the collective is returning with a diverse collection of work, ranging from functional vessels to sculptural pieces.

The exhibition will showcase the different ways artists work with clay, exploring a variety of techniques, textures, forms and glazes.

Since last year, the collective has continued to evolve, while retaining its shared commitment to celebrating local ceramics and providing an opportunity for artists to share their work with the wider community.

The exhibiting potters will be Brendan Adams, Elvira Bakker, Lisa Foden, Jill Howard, Susan Liddell, Sandra Mather, Vivienne Paterson, David Sullivan, Alexis Waterhouse, Judy Wood and Emma Zhang.

Visitors will have an opportunity to appreciate the creativity and craftsmanship of local potters, with works reflecting the individual styles and approaches of each artist.

Scoop 26 will open with an evening event on Friday, October 30, from 5pm to 7pm.

The exhibition will then run from Saturday, October 31 to Sunday, November 8, daily from 10am to 5pm, at Charlie’s Gelato, 17 Sharp Road, Matakana.
