For people who can’t make the Santa Parade, Mr and Mrs Claus have delayed their trip back to the North Pole and expanded their travel itinerary to include sleigh visits to Warkworth and Snells Beach on December 15 and 17 respectively, from 6pm.
This is another chance for children to see the couple up-close-and-personal and maybe nab a lolly or two as they are thrown from the Santa sack.
One Mahurangi Business Association manager and organiser Murray Chapman says over the last five years they have taken the sleigh around the streets of Warkworth and Snells Beach after the Santa Parade.
“We started this during covid when we were unable to have a proper parade, and have kept doing it since then,” he says.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for children who don’t make it to the Santa Parade on December 13 in Warkworth.
“We’ll have the local fire brigade with us and possibly the town crier, with the Chubby Elf on the back of the sleigh, possibly with a few lollies.”
Santa will start his tour of Warkworth on Morrison Drive on Monday, December 15 from 6pm. Then Santa’s sleigh will head off from Kokihi Lane, Bayside, in Snells Beach on Wednesday, December 17, from 6pm. For the full schedule please refer to the travel itineraries above.
